The Protectorate of Kenya soon hires him to hunt a large leopard that has killed multiple people. After he kills the leopard, a second one injures him and also kills his colleague, Kagiso.
Spencer then travels to Nairobi for medical treatment, where he crosses paths with Alexandra at a local inn’s bar. Alexandra develops a crush on Spencer. Eventually, the two fall in love with each other and get engaged.
The two later marry during a voyage to the U.S., after Cara Dutton urges Spencer to return home.
