Man safely makes it to shore after Tiki boat capsizes in Pittsburgh during severe storms

WE’VE DONE A LOT OF STORIES ON IT HERE AT CHANNEL FOUR, AND WE’RE ZOOMING IN TIGHT TO THIS VIDEO. IT LOOKS LIKE WE MAY BE GETTING THIS VIDEO FROM OUR ACTION CAM. YEAH, IT’S UP ON MOUNT WASHINGTON. A man managed to make it to shore after a tiki boat capsized in Pittsburgh Tuesday, following high winds and intense rainfall throughout western Pennsylvania.A spokesperson from the city of Pittsburgh told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that river rescue was dispatched near the Point in Downtown after a Tiki boat operator on the water capsized after dropping off passengers. Officials said the man had managed to make it to shore on his own after the boat flipped. “He was not hurt and was the only one on the boat when it overturned,” a spokesperson said. Viewer Alexandra Bennett shared a video with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that was captured from her window at work, showing the man on the boat at the time the storm hit.”My coworkers and I were just sort of watching the storm roll in from one of our conference rooms, and I pulled out my phone to record the storm coming in,” Bennett said via Zoom following the incident. “It just looked cool coming down the Mon River, and we ended up seeing the two tugboats that were desperately trying to get to shore, to the point before the storm kind of overtook them.”Bennett said one of the boats remained upright, while the other ended up capsizing. She then said she noticed someone on the boat and was in complete disbelief. “Everyone in the office definitely seemed very shocked,” she said. PITTSBURGH —A man managed to make it to shore after a tiki boat capsized in Pittsburgh Tuesday, following high winds and intense rainfall throughout western Pennsylvania.
