Conor McGregor makes hilarious claim on ‘100 people vs. silverback gorilla’ debate

UFC’s Conor McGregor has weighed-in on the world’s wildest debate of the year.

The silverback gorilla, nature’s heavyweight champ, has been making headlines all this last week following a viral question on X (formally Twitter):

Could 100 men defeat 1 silverback gorilla?

There’s some who believe strength in numbers would be enough to stop the gorilla. Others? Not so much, considering the gorilla’s feats such as its ability to lift ten times their body weight, a bite force of 1,300 PSI plus a speed of 25 MPH.

Besides a prime Mike Tyson, who tried to bribe a zookeeper into letting him ‘smash’ a Silverback gorilla, there’s not many people willing to fight the animal.

UFC Middleweight Bo Nickal’s apparently ‘in’ for the challenge for a Mr. Beast video, but Conor McGregor? The UFC superstar had something to say about the ongoing debate.

McGregor has a chest tattoo of a gorilla eating a heart, so it’s safe to say what side he’s on.

“On behalf of gorillas, I’d smoke a 100 easy,” McGregor wrote on X.

The comment section was brutal.

“Soooo you’ll fight 100 guys but not Michael Chandler?” a fan responded on X.

“Bro thinks he is in the Planet of the Apes,” another fan said.

“You couldn’t smoke one Khabib,” another fan wrote, referencing McGregor’s title fight loss to then lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

“You couldn’t even smoke Nate Diaz mate,” one fan wrote.

Former UFC title challenger Darren Till, nicknamed ‘The Gorilla’, had a hilarious reaction to McGregor claiming he could fight off 100 people.

“What about 1?” Till responded to McGregor with a photo him edited as a gorilla.

Till and McGregor have both fought in the UFC welterweight division, though their paths have never crossed. Till’s career took a different trajectory than McGregor’s, falling to then champion Tyron Woodley at 25 years old back in 2018.

‘The Gorilla’ moved up to the middleweight division the next year after suffering a KO loss to Jorge Masvidal where he exchanged more losses than wins to the best in the world including current 185lb champion Dricus du Plessis.

A promotion as well as divisions apart, the ex-UFC star wouldn’t shy away from a fight with Conor McGregor if it was offered to him in the ring or anywhere else.

“Money talks,” Till said of a fight with McGregor in a recent interview with TalkSport.

“That’s the money fight…

“No matter what, no matter how you slice it or dice it with Conor. He’s still that name, isn’t he? You’d be a fool to turn something like that down.

“I think I’m bigger and better,” Till added.

“I’d beat him quite easily.”
