UPDATE: 11:25 p.m. ET: Red Panda was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and tests, per league sources.
I’m also told the Fever were not aware of the situation until after the game. It was halftime — so they were back in the locker room when it happened.
Appearing on Sydney Colson’s Instagram Live after winning the Cup Championship game, Caitlin Clark said, “Red Panda, we love you.”
MINNEAPOLIS — Red Panda, one of the great halftime acts, suffered a fall Tuesday night just as she was about to begin her show.
The Minnesota Lynx brought in Red Panda to perform at halftime of the Commissioner’s Cup title game between the Indiana Fever and Lynx. But five seconds after she got off the ladder and on to her unicycle, she went down.
Red Panda was stunned. The whole crowd was.
She dropped straight down, immediately clutched her left wrist/forearm, and was in obvious pain. She got up and waved to the crowd briefly.
Then, after making several steps to the baseline, she sat down. Perhaps she had pain elsewhere.
She waited for a wheelchair to arrive, then received loud cheers as she was wheeled off — and back to the south tunnel at Target Center.
What was supposed to be a very special halftime show — a fan favorite — never got started.
Basketball fans everywhere were crushed upon seeing the news on social media.
Hopefully, she is OK and it is nothing too serious.
