Sophia Hutchins‘ loved ones are in mourning after a tragedy in Southern California.
The longtime friend and manager of Caitlyn Jenner died in an ATV accident on July 2, multiple outlets confirmed. Hutchins was 29.
According to TMZ, citing law enforcement and family sources, Hutchins was riding in an ATV in Malibu when her ATV “struck the bumper of a moving car,” causing Hutchins to go over the shoulder and “350 feet down into a ravine” near Jenner’s home.
The Pepperdine University graduate was pronounced dead by first responders, per the outlet, who also reported no one else was injured during the crash.
Hutchins and Jenner’s friendship began a decade ago while the Washington native was in college.
“We were introduced through my makeup artist at a M.A.C. photo shoot,” Hutchins told the New York Times in 2019. “Having a similar sense of humor, we spent the entire time laughing and ended up meeting for brunch, and we’ve been great friends ever since.”
Jenner’s transition also served as an inspiration for Hutchins’ own journey, she even appeared alongside the Olympian on E!’s I Am Cait.
After becoming friends, Hutchins stepped into a manager role for Jenner.
“I saw nobody was managing her, and there were all these people taking massive advantage,” she told the NYT. “And I was saying, ‘Caitlyn, if I don’t step in here and start managing you, you’re going to go broke.'”

And Jenner credited Hutchins for a successful new era.
“Over the last few years, Sophia has been my best friend, family and confidant,” Jenner said in a statement to the outlet at the time. “She is one of the top minds in her field. Her value in my life is undeniable. The sky is the limit with her entrepreneurial spirit.”
