It’s time for the round-of-16 play at the WTA Wimbledon. The number of upsets on both the women’s and men’s sides has been larger than expected. The tournament being this wide open when it comes to potential winners has tennis enthusiasts excited for whatever comes next. Here are my picks. Please share your thoughts in the comment section.
WTA Wimbledon Open
Sierra – Siegemund: Time 12:00
H2H: 0-0
Solana Sierra’s second-chance luck continues, as the lucky loser has made the most of her second opportunity with several high-quality wins to get here. Few people, if anyone, had Sierra beating Katie Boulter, but here we are. Even though she’s played three three-set matches in her last four matches, Sierra is playing some of her best tennis right now. Laura Siegemund has had a 2025 to forget thus far, and she’s 13-15 overall to show for it. That said, a victory would make Wimbledon the furthest she’s gone in a tournament in 2025.
Best Bet to Make
The books have Siegemund as the favorite in this one, and while I don’t love the pick, I also don’t hate it. There’s a case to be made for Sierra, even with many of her wins coming at lower-level tournaments. When you’re playing with the lack of confidence that Siegemund has right now, even going up against a lower-level talent can be problematic in its own way. What Siegemund does have is three prior trips to Wimbledon under her belt, including a second-round appearance last year.
That being said, Siegemund winning is a value bet for sure.

Kartal – Pavlyuchenkova: Time 12:00
H2H: 0-0
This will be the first meeting between Sonay Kartal and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, but it is likely to be the first of many. Pavlyuchenkova hasn’t played as often as Kartal in 2025, and both ladies have been injured in 2025. Kartal has four different round-of-16 appearances, and Pavlyuchenkova a quarterfinal finish at the Australian Open on hardcourt and a semifinal finish at Eastbourne on grass. In terms of previous Wimbledon success, neither woman has ever made it past the third round.
Best Bet to Make
The books have Pavlyuchenkova by a small margin, and I do agree with the call. Not to mention, at 1.87, Pavlyuchenkova still pays out at a desirable rate without too much risk. You will find plenty of outlets that have these women within .12, so you can find a solid deal for Kartal if you think that’s where this is going. I am taking Pavlyuchenkova for several reasons. She’s the favorite, she’s playing better going in, and she has more experience overall since she’s been a pro longer.
That being said, Pavlyuchenkova winning is a value bet for sure.

Noskova – Anisimova: Time 12:00
H2H: 1-0
Linda Noskova beat Amanda Anisimova when they last met in 2023 at Indian Wells. Noskova took the match in straight sets after the first set went to a tiebreak. Anisimova is at a much different place in her career than she was in 2023. In 2025 alone, she’s won one tournament, appeared in another final, and then another semifinal, and several quarterfinals. Anisimova is also slightly better on grass at 22-11 to Noskova’s 12-8 on the same.
Best Bet to Make
The books have Anisimova as the favorite, and it’s largely to do with her better record on grass. At 8-2 in her last ten, Noskova is playing with the same grit and determination as Anisimova. In fact, even the losses they have in that ten-game stretch are extremely similar. If you want to find a key difference between the two women, Anisimova’s injury history in 2025 would be that key difference. Anisimova has been injured twice in the last two months, and that may be an issue for some people, but not me.
That being said, Anisimova winning is a value bet for sure.
