- All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons has requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys over stalled contract negotiations.
- Jordan Love and Parsons have a friendly relationship and the Packers quarterback was playfully recruiting the four-time Pro Bowler earlier this year.
- Parsons previously said he would be a Dallas Cowboy forever but the relationship has since soured with a month to go before the start of the 2025 season.
Back in February, when Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love tried to playfully recruit Micah Parsons the Dallas Cowboys star edge rusher shut that down.
He said he would wear the Dallas Cowboy star forever.
Fast forward six months and Parsons has a different tune.
The 26-year-old All-Pro edge rusher on Aug. 1 requested a trade from the Cowboys, the only team he has played for in his four-year career, after a long, drawn-out contract dispute.
Whether the Packers make a call for the impactful defensive player remains to be seen.

Love certainly was all for it earlier this year. Or at least he had fun with the idea of it when he appeared on Parsons’ podcast “The Edge with Micah Parsons” during Super Bowl week in February.
“Is there anybody particular around the league that you feel like should come into the organization, can make an impact for y’all?” Parsons asked Love. “Somebody you want to shoutout?”
Love, with a smile on his face, replied, “I mean, a dude sitting right next to me.”
Love, who traveled to Dubai with Parsons this offseason, added “that’d be pretty cool, that’d be pretty cool. No? You don’t think so? How would you feel about that? What would your take be about coming to Green Bay?”
The quarterback’s response led to jeers from the crowd.
“There’s too many Cowboys fans in attendance,” Love came to realize. “Too many Cowboys fans. My fault.”
Parsons, who has been on the NFC Pro Bowl team in each of his first four seasons, said switching teams wasn’t in his DNA.
“I’m in one of them Druski 360 deals,” Parsons said. “I’m a for-lifer. I can’t go nowhere. Man, (owner) Jerry Jones that’s my dawg.”
Micah Parsons requests trade
Parsons’ cozy relationship with Jones — the two sat together at the Super Bowl two years ago — and the organization has fractured so much that he released a lengthy statement on social media Aug. 1, announcing that he is requesting a trade from the Cowboys.
He wrote in a tweet on Aug. 1 “Thank you Dallas,” while describing from his perspective how the contract situation has played out since last offseason.
Parsons was set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
With the Cowboys going “silent,” Parsons ultimately submitted his trade request to Stephen Jones, the Cowboys’ co-owner, chief operating officer, executive vice president of player personnel and son of longtime owner Jerry Jones.
Micah Parsons next team, landing spots
Parsons, of course, could always end up back in Dallas.
A similar situation actually played out in Cleveland earlier this offseason with Myles Garrett. The former Defensive Player of the Year requested a trade citing a desire to win, only to re-sign a record-setting contract with the Browns a month later.
Parsons could just be taking a public approach to getting the deal he feels he deserves at this time and similar to what other top defensive players have received this offseason.
But if the Cowboys do trade him where will Parsons play next? Could it be Green Bay? USA TODAY Sports listed five potential landing spots for Parsons.
The Packers weren’t one of them. In addition to the Cowboys, other top destinations could be the Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets.
