Elvis Presley’s ex-wife Priscilla Presley shared a “heartbreaking” update on Instagram.
“We lost a dear friend…Wink Martindale,” Priscilla Presley captioned a post on April 16. Martindale was a popular game show host, best known for hosting shows like Tic-Tac-Dough, Gambit and High Rollers. Martindale died yesterday at the age of 91, per The Hollywood Reporter.
“I’m still in disbelief. I spoke to Sandy, his loving wife & longtime friend two days ago and she thought he was making progress.All of us who knew Wink have lost a great friend. My heart goes out to you Sandy,” Priscilla Presley’s Instagram tribute continued.
Following the release of Presley’s album, That’s All Right, Martindale interviewed him for “Top Ten Dance Party” in 1956, according to ABC News. The two kept in touch over the years and became friends. The outlet also reported that Martindale’s wife, Sandy Martindale, briefly dated Elvis.
Fans reacted to Priscilla Presley’s post on Instagram.
“What an amazing man with an outstanding legacy. So sorry for your loss, and his families,” one person wrote.
“They say whoever passes during Holy Week goes straight to heaven,” someone else said.
“I loved watching him on the game shows. He was always so upbeat and smiling all the time. Very genuine. May he rest now,” a third comment read.
“I am so sorry for your loss, he was such a gentlemen, with a great personality, May he rest in peace amen,” a fourth Instagram user added.
Wink is survived by his wife, Sandy Martindale, and his three daughters Lisa, Madelyn and Laura.
