Teen suspect confesses to fatal stabbing at Texas school track meet, claims self-defense

(TNND) — The teenage suspect accused of stabbing another teenager to death at a track meet at a Texas high school has allegedly confessed to a police offer.

Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old student athlete from Frisco Centennial High School, has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing Austin Metcalf, a 17-year-old junior at Memorial High School, to death Wednesday morning.

Allegedly, Anthony stabbed Metcalf over a seating dispute. A school resource officer arrived at the scene first, according to a report acquired by FOX 4.

Anthony allegedly told the officer that Metcalf “put his hands on” him and that he “was protecting himself.”

The arrest report obtained by FOX 4 said that Anthony apparently told the resource officer that he did it.

Hunter, Metcalf’s twin brother, and his mother, Meghan, spoke on “The Will Cain Show” about the altercation. Hunter saw his brother with a wound on his chest after the alleged stabbing.

“I whipped my head around, and then all of a sudden I see him running down the bleachers just grabbing his chest I put my hand on there, tried to make it stop, and I grabbed his head and I looked in his eyes. I just saw his soul leave, and it took my soul, too,” Hunter said.

As he was being walked to a police vehicle, Anthony allegedly told authorities that Metcalf “put his hands on” him, even though he “told him not to.”

Anthony is currently being held in Collin County jail on a $1 million bail.
