‘Hands Off!’: Protesters gather at Allen County Courthouse for a National Day of Action

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Saturday, Fort Wayne protesters will gather at the Allen County Courthouse to protest against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

The protest is a part of a nationwide initiative that aims to take to the streets nationwide to “fight back with a clear message: Hands off!”

In a press release from Indivisible North East Indiana, the group leading the Fort Wayne protest, the hope of the protest is to say “Hands Off! our democracy, Constitution, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, personal data, federal jobs and services, and more.”

800 are expected to be in attendance, come rain or shine. Nearly 400,000 have registered nationwide and according to the map on the national day of actions website, protests have spread into Canada, along with cities in Europe and Mexico.

According to the Hands Off website, “A core principle behind all Hands Off! events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.”

The protest will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on the Allen County Courthouse Lawn, located at 715 S. Calhoun Street in downtown Fort Wayne.
