Lauren Sánchez is celebrating her trip to outer space with a little help from Kim Kardashian, her sister Khloé, and their mom-slash-manager Kris Jenner. Following her return home on April 14, the reality TV trio sent Sanchez a spaceship-inspired purse, designed by Judith Leiber and costing a cool $7,000. Christened the “UFO Orbiter bag,” the purse is covered in geometric crystals and promises to “turn heads in any orbit.”
Staying on theme, Sanchez then shared her new accessory on Instagram with a fitting caption: “Out of this world!”

Sánchez’s extraterrestrial trip was the first-ever space flight with an all-female crew. Other passengers included CBS host Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and pop star Katy Perry. Before their descent, the “I Kissed a Girl” singer treated her fellow passengers to a rendition of “What a Wonderful World.”
Perry later explained why she declined to sing one of her own tunes: “It’s not about singing my songs,” she said. “It’s about a collective energy and making space for future women. It’s about this wonderful world that we see right out there and appreciating it. This is all for the benefit of Earth.”

Despite Perry’s sentiments, however, the Blue Origin flight has since been criticized by fans and celebrities alike for its high cost and carbon emissions.
“What’s the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it’s a bit gluttonous,” Olivia Munn said during an appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends. “Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?”
King, for her part, was quick to defend herself in response to Munn’s comments: “There was nothing frivolous about what we do,” she said on her show, CBS Mornings. “So, you know, I’m very disappointed and very saddened by it [the criticism]. And I also say this—what it’s doing to inspire other women and young girls? Please don’t ignore that.”
