The 2025 NFL Draft class may lack a generational quarterback prospect, but it’s shaping up to be one of the most intriguing groups in years.

Among the top names in the conversation, two signal-callers are standing out, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward.

Cam Ward’s skills set him apart

While Sanders has long been viewed as a surefire first-round pick, a growing number of experts are urging NFL teams not to overlook Ward, whose arm talent and playmaking ability could make him the most pro-ready quarterback in the class.

Ward, a 22-year-old with five years of college experience across three programs, had a breakout final season at Miami.

He threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions while leading the Hurricanes to a 10-3 record.

Unlike some of his peers, Ward has had to fight through adversity, transferring twice before landing at Miami and elevating his draft stock dramatically.

His ability to adapt and thrive in different offensive systems is one of the key reasons scouts are so high on him.

Former Penn State tight end and Yahoo! Sports analyst Adam Breneman is one of Ward’s biggest advocates.

“I love Cam Ward. I think he’s the best quarterback in the Draft,”Breneman said, pointing to Ward’s elite arm strength, accuracy, and ability to process defenses.

“The ball snaps out of his arm. He’s got that pro-style passer ability but can also extend plays and create when needed.”

Hall of Famer Kurt Warner echoed similar sentiments, arguing that Ward’s natural throwing ability gives him an edge over Sanders and Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart.

“Cam has a little extra,” Warner explained.

“His ability to make every throw with ease is what separates him.”

For months, Sanders was widely considered the top QB prospect, but Ward’s rise is forcing teams to reconsider their draft boards.

Some analysts believe Ward’s skill set makes him the most NFL-ready passer, especially in a league that increasingly values mobility and off-schedule playmaking.

While Sanders posted impressive numbers at Colorado, 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, some evaluators question whether his style will translate as seamlessly to the pros.

With the draft approaching, speculation is mounting about where Ward will land.

The Tennessee Titans and New York Giants are among the teams rumored to be in the market for a franchise quarterback.

If Ward goes first overall, the Giants could end up selecting Sanders at No. 3.

Meanwhile, other QB-needy teams, like the Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders, could also be in the mix.

As NFL scouts finalize their evaluations it is clear that Cam Ward is no longer flying under the radar.
