Lions News: St. Brown brothers say D.J. Reed takes his job seriously

You’d hope that any professional athlete takes his or her job seriously, but when it’s one of the first things someone says about them, you’d have to think they’re pretty locked in.

Over on the St. Brown Podcast, the brothers discussed the Detroit Lions’ big splash just a few hours into the tampering period of free agency — signing Jets cornerback D.J. Reed to a reported three-year, $48 million contract. Erik put together a great breakdown of Reed’s background and his role with the Jets.

“He’s like super serious, right?” Amon-Ra asked right off the bat.

His brother Equanimeous said he and Reed train together in Anaheim, California, and they were in the same draft class.

“Yeah, hella serious,” he said.

Equanimeous also said their father, John Brown, loves Reed. I imagine that’s quite the compliment coming from a two-time amateur Mr. Universe.

“I train with him. He was in my draft class, we’re training out here in Anaheim. Good DB, (John Brown) actually loves him.”

NFL insider Albert Breer agreed he’d be a positive influence, particularly when it comes to taking some of the younger guys under his wing.

Ex-Jets CB DJ Reed headed for Detroit—a great culture guy, who should be an excellent fit for the Lions, and fantastic for young corners Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw.

Giants had an interest too, but ended up with ex-Saint Paulson Adebo instead.

While the Lions do seem plenty serious, a little more focus to reach the next level certainly can’t hurt.
