Steelers miss out on defensive line target Javon Hargrave

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a blockbuster trade acquiring wide receiver D.K. Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks and have since gone quite silent. They made a pair of veteran signings, adding cornerback Darius Slay and linebacker Malik Harrison, but no groundbreaking moves.

Justin Fields left for the New York Jets, and wide receiver Darius Slayton remained in New York with the Giants. Pittsburgh also missed out on cornerback Nate Hobbs, who signed with the Green Bay Packers. Now, another name that was linked to Pittsburgh has signed elsewhere.

Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave has agreed to terms on a deal with the Minnesota Vikings, according to Tom Pelissero. The two-time Pro Bowler is a former third-round draft pick of the Steelers, and it looked like there would be real interest in a reunion. Much like the other names already discussed, the Steelers let him slip away and go elsewhere.

With the second day of the legal tampering period already underway, the Steelers need to make at least one solid signing, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, where several holes remain. Oh, and a move for a quarterback would be great, too.
