Social media star Alysha Burney has died while celebrating her 25th birthday in Mexico.
Burney died after having an asthma attack in her sleep while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas on March 2, Fox4 News reported. She was 24 years old and would have turned 25 the next day.
Burney’s brother Charles broke the news about his younger sister’s death on Instagram Monday.
“I come with great sadness that my little sister Alysha Burney has passed. PLEASE allow our family time to grieve during this time. It is extremely difficult seeing all of the false narratives trying to defame her legacy and we are ready to take legal action for those continuing to spread false information regarding her passing,” he wrote. “We know so many people care about her and will share more information soon but just give us some time and please stop harassing the family. Her legacy will still live on FOREVER!!”
Charles was with Alysha when she died, Fox4 News reported. Her official cause of death has yet to be released.
Blurney was a social media content creator who amassed more than 5 million followers across Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, with the latter having her largest following.
She first joined YouTube in February 2013 and went viral after posting “Bad Girls Club” parodies online. Some of her other most popular videos poke fun at online classes, hilariously captured what slavery would look like if it existed today and show exaggerated representations of different types of co-workers.
The Kansas City native also owned her own production company, “ABurneyProductions‚” which had already produced a film and had more projects in the works. All of Burney’s projects, including her most recent “Hot Girl Get Away,“ can be found on her YouTube channel.
