Matthew McConaughey is showing his support for the Green Bay Packers‘ first-round selection, Matthew Golden.
“route, hands, speed,” McConaughey wrote of the 21-year-old wide receiver in an April 24 post on X shortly after the Packers picked Golden with the 23rd selection.
The selection of the former Texas’ Longhorns star received a thunderous ovation from the Packers’ faithful in attendance at the draft.
It marked the first time since 2002 the team has picked a wide receiver in the first round.
Golden played one season at Texas after spending the previous two seasons at Houston.

The award-winning actor graduated from the University of Texas in 1983, and is perhaps the most famous Longhorns fan and the school basketball arena’s “Minister of Culture.” McConaughey also showed his support for the Denver Broncos selecting Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron.
The Packers responded almost immediately to McConaughey’s post, saying: “DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?!”
McConaughey hasn’t responded to the team yet, but it looks like this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
