Shedeur Sanders has officially become the biggest storyline in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The former Colorado football quarterback is now hoping to be taken on the final day of the draft after not being picked in the second or third rounds on Friday in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Sanders, the son of legendary NFL player and Colorado coach Deion Sanders, dropped to Day 3 of the NFL draft after entering the draft as the No. 1-ranked quarterback and No. 5 overall prospect in ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.’s big board.

At one point in the third round on Friday, Kiper Jr. said Shedeur Sanders’ slide in the NFL draft made “no sense” to him. But the slide of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner does check out with reports from NFL insiders such as Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport across Thursday and Friday’s rounds that NFL teams haven’t evaluated and ranked him high on their draft boards.

The Saints opted to take Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough with their second-round pick at No. 40 overall. Two more quarterbacks, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, went to the Seattle Seahawks and Browns in the third round with the Nos. 92 and 94 overall picks, respectively.
Why is Shedeur Sanders not drafted yet?
In short, NFL teams haven’t viewed Shedeur Sanders as a first-, second- or third-round caliber player.
