Adrien Brody’s girlfriend Georgina Chapman reacts to his Halle Berry kiss at Oscars 2025

Not too brutal.

“Brutalist” star Adrien Brody not only took home his second best actor win at the 2025 Oscars — he also got a kiss from Halle Berry.

The actress, 58, re-created their controversial Academy Awards PDA from 22 years ago at the 2003 ceremony. On Sunday night, Berry snuck up on Brody and his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, on the red carpet outside the Dolby Theatre in LA.

“I’m sorry, Georgina, but I gotta do it,” she said. “I had to pay him back. You know I did.”

Chapman, 48, appeared shocked, but she was in on the gag.

Berry clarified that she did it “only because Georgina said I could.”

“Twenty-one years I’ve been waiting to get him on a red carpet and slap one on,” she teased.

Brody, 51, and Chapman’s romance was confirmed in February 2020. Berry, meanwhile, began dating boyfriend Van Hunt the same year.

“I mean how can you deny a man a kiss with Halle Berry?” Chapman told Extra on Sunday night.

As for Brody’s reaction, Chapman joked: “He was more than fine [with it].”

Brody famously kissed Berry in 2003 as he accepted his Oscar for Roman Polanski’s “The Pianist.” She presented him with the golden statue as she won best actress the year prior for her role in “Monster’s Ball.” She became the first black actress to take home that trophy.

On Sunday night, Brody won his second best actor, beating out Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”), Timothée Chalamet (“A Complete Unknown”), Sebastian Stan (“The Apprentice”) and Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”).

Once Brody took the stage, he briefly turned around to throw his used gum to Chapman before he gave his acceptance speech.

“One thing that I’ve gained, having the privilege to come back here — is to have some perspective. No matter where you are in your career, no matter what you’ve accomplished, it can all go away. And I think what makes this night most special is the awareness of that,” Brody said in part. “It is a chance to begin again. And the opportunity to hopefully be fortunate enough that for the next 20 years of my life, I can prove that I am worthy of such meaningful, important and relevant roles.”

He went on to give a shout-out to Chapman and her “beautiful” children, whom she shares with ex-husband Harvey Weinstein.

“I share this with my amazing partner Georgia, who has not only reinvigorated my own self-worth, but my sense of value, and my values. And her beautiful children, Dash and India. I know this has been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life. Popsy is coming home a winner,” he went on.

When the music played for him to wrap up his speech, Brody refused to leave the stage.

He quipped: “This is not my first rodeo.”

Afterward, he was later spotted hugging Chalamet, 29 — who was stiff competition for Brody all award season. The “Wonka” actor previously took home the best actor win for his portrayal of Bob Dylan at the SAG Awards.
