Angel Reese is having a July to remember.
The latest: Not only is the Sky’s superstar an All-Star, but she’s now in rarified air as the cover star of the new NBA 2K26 WNBA edition video game.
- Reese also snagged WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors and put out her first signature shoe with Reebok.
- On the court, she became the fastest player in league history to reach 650 points and 650 rebounds.
State of play: Reese graces the cover of the WNBA edition of the video game, while Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander graces the NBA version.
What they’re saying: “To be cemented in NBA 2K history is a special honor that reflects not only my journey, but also all the veteran WNBA players who have paved the way before me,” Reese said in a statement. “I’m proud to be part of a game that continues to elevate women’s basketball.”
Between the lines: Angel’s star continues to rise in her second year in Chicago. Her rivalry with the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark has helped, but it has also made her the subject of hate on the internet.
- The Sky are 5-13 and currently in 12th place in the East.
The intrigue: Video game covers have become synonymous with stardom. Fellow Chicagoan Candace Parker was the first female basketball player to be on the cover of NBA 2K in 2021.
- Other Chicago basketball stars that have been on video game covers: Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Derrick Rose.
What’s next: The new NBA 2K26 comes out in September.
