Be Careful Drinking Blue-Raspberry Celsius

If something about your afternoon energy drink seemed a little off recently, this could be why: According to the FDA, owing to a recent manufacturing mishap, some cans that appeared to be blue-raspberry-flavored Celsius were actually filled with High Noon vodka seltzer. Oops!

Usually, a 12-ounce can of Celsius Astro Vibe Sparkling Blue Razz Edition has 200-mg. of caffeine, whereas a High Noon contains 4.5 percent alcohol by volume — so obviously, the effects are a bit different. After discovering the mix-up, which apparently happened after High Noon’s packaging supplier accidentally sent it Celsius cans, High Noon said it was recalling certain Beach Variety 12-packs that had been shipped to retailers in various states. While it’s not clear how many cans were mislabeled, a spokeswoman for High Noon told the New York Times that the recall applied to a “small batch” of drinks.

The lids on the mislabeled Celsius cans are apparently silver instead of the brand’s typical black, in case you want to double-check before cracking one open in the middle of your workday. Be careful out there!
