‘Beautiful day to be in Boston’: City’s annual St. Patrick’s day parade wraps up

All streets have been reopened to car and pedestrian traffic as Boston’s famed St. Patrick’s Day parade came to an end Sunday afternoon.“We’re celebrating St. Patty’s day. We’re enjoying the Irish culture in Boston, and we’re having a great time,” one parade goer said.A sea of green was seen on Broadway as thousands gathered for Boston’s iconic parade. Revelers came in from all over to celebrate, including a group of friends who flew in from the United Kingdom. “I was in Galway, Ireland, and they said the best parade was in Boston and Dublin. So that’s why we’re here, all dressed up,” a parade goer said.As promised, law enforcement made their presence known, cracking down on underage drinking after several fights broke out last year.On X, formerly known as Twitter, the Boston Police Department posted a photo of dozens of jugs of alcohol seized during the parade, apparently from those participating in underage drinking and public drinking. Several groups of friends were excited to enjoy the holiday all day long.“Gonna find some good Irish bars. Gonna have a few pints of Guinness and just enjoy the day, man. It’s a beautiful day to be in Boston.”Boston police said 13 people were arrested, 12 adults and one juvenile.Four will be summoned to court on various charges.
