Caitlin Clark Screeches Her Way Into Fever Star’s Postgame Interview

It was a big night for the Indiana Fever despite missing star guard Caitlin Clark, who remains out with a groin injury. Traveling to Minnesota to play the Lynx, the best team in the WNBA, for the in-season Commissioner’s Cup trophy, few gave Indiana, listed as seven-point underdogs, much of a chance.

Indeed, in the early going, the Fever looked lost without Clark, scoring just 12 points in the first period. But the Fever defense stepped up in the second quarter, holding Minnesota–usually an offensive juggernaut–to just seven points. That afforded the Fever a 32-27 halftime lead that they extended throughout the second half to push for a 74-59 win.

Natasha Howard was the MVP of the game, as she hammered her way through a tough Minnesota defense to finish with 16 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. She was aided by Aliyah Boston, who had 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

After the game, Boston did a postgame interview on Amazon Prime. But a very excited Clark burst into the end of the chat.

“We knew we were capable,” Boston said in the interview. “God has equipped us and so for us, it was about coming in here and doing what we know how to do. And the entire game, coach (Stephanie White) kept instilling confidence in us, kept telling us take it one possession at a time. And we did that.”

Boston then was asked about the importance of getting Howard going inside to soften up the Lynx defense. “With her attacking every angle, they had to space out a little bit,” Boston said. “And in that fourth quarter, I was able to score.”

That’s when Boston was asked what she intended to do with her approximately $30,000 in prize money from the game. She never got to answer–Clark came in, screeching and screaming to disrupt the interview.

The 9-8 Fever, and perhaps Clark, will return to action on Thursday against the Aces, back at home in Indiana.
