Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis shared a sweet moment at the “Opry 100: A Live Celebration.”
At 100-year anniversary event, Underwood took the stage to honor Travis, who has won seven Grammys in his career. However, after suffering a stroke over a decade ago and developing aphasia, Travis has had limited ability to communicate.
To this day, he relies on his wife, Mary Davis, to help him speak during interviews.
Underwood led a tribute to Travis, performing two of his songs — “Three Wooden Crosses” and “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
As she was nearing the end of the latter song, Underwood went into the audience and passed the microphone to Travis, who proudly sang the last “Amen” in the tune.

The audience was so taken by the moment that they gave the artists a standing ovation. Some were also seen wiping tears away. The internet’s reaction was equally emotional.
“IM NOT CRYING YOU ARE 😭,” one person said on X while sharing a video of Travis singing “Amen.”
“🥺😭I was NOT ready,” another added.
“😢That song gets me every time,” a third said.

It was a full-circle moment for Underwood and Travis. In 2008, Travis surprised Underwood onstage with an invitation to join the Opry.
In her speech during the live celebration, the “American Idol” winner-turned-judge recalled the moment and also shared some kind words about Travis.
“When I was a kid, my sister had a cassette tape of Randy Travis’ music. From the first time I heard him sing his traditional country voice and those songs, I was hooked, and I knew my sister was not getting that tape back,” she said.
“The first time I met him, many years later, I cried — embarrassing, but it was so emotional for me to meet this man whose voice I’ve been singing to, and along with my whole life. I could never have imagined that I’d be recording songs with him, or that Randy would become my dear friend, or that he would surprise me on stage and invite me to join the Grand Ole Opry back in 2008,” Underwood continued.
“It means so much to me to be here tonight to celebrate the Opry and the amazing Randy Travis by singing two of my favorite songs of his.”
