Las Vegas (KSNV) — A severe storm that swept through the valley has left a trail of destruction, knocking down telephone poles and toppling trees.

Unfortunately, such chaos can sometimes bring out the worst in people.

Andrew Nomura captured video footage early Wednesday morning that appears to show a woman pulling copper wires out of a downed pole.

He says the incident occurred near Tropicana Avenue and McLeod Drive, where he was reporting.

Last September, the City of Las Vegas passed anew ordinance to help cut down on copper theft.

Those caught violating the ordinance, which is a misdemeanor, would have to pay a minimum fine of $500, but it will go up from there.
