CHICAGO – A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Central Cook County, including Chicago until 11:45 p.m.
Rapid onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas and other poor drainage areas.
Between 2 and 4 inches of rain had fallen as of a little after 10 p.m.
Residents are advised not to drive through flooded streets.
Fox 32 Chief Meteorologist Emily Wahls said there were multiple reports of water rescues near Western and Ogden and Fulton and Maple.
Fox 32’s Paris Schutz sent in a photo of flooding near the viaduct at Ashland near Grand. Firefighters were on the scene.
What’s next:
Wednesday will bring another chance for a few showers or storms, otherwise skies will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s.
Thursday is expected to be sunny and warm with highs in the mid 80s. Then, 90-degree heat returns on Friday with another chance of storms.
The best chance of rain and storms appears to be Friday evening and night, likely lingering into Saturday. Temperatures on Saturday will be in the mid 80s.
Sunday and Monday will be dry under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s.
