The Dallas Cowboys haven’t often been active in free agency in recent seasons under owner-slash-general-manager Jerry Jones.
The 2025 NFL offseason was expected to bring more of the same strategy after Jones admitted he didn’t expect Dallas to be “aggressive” in free agency.
“I don’t think aggressive is the right word,” Jones said, per the Cowboys website. “I wouldn’t call us really void in any area… If you include what we’re going to do in the draft, I wouldn’t see that… I’m not looking at free agency as a place to fill voids.”
Jones’ assessment has rung true in the early days of free agency. Dallas has taken a shot on a handful of players on value contracts to add depth and talent to their roster.
But thus far, the Cowboys‘ largest offseason splash has been re-signing Osa Odighizuwa to a four-year, $80 million deal. They haven’t invested heavily in external additions to the roster, unlike their divisional counterparts.
