The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed third baseman Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list with a left knee bone bruise. Outfielder Esteury Ruiz has been called up to replace him on the active roster.

Muncy suffered the injury in the sixth inning of Wednesday’s game. White Sox outfielder Michael A. Taylor slid into Muncy’s knee while trying to steal third base. Muncy’s knee bent backwards and he went down in immediate pain.
After the game, Muncy underwent initial tests that led manager Dave Roberts to feel optimistic about his injury.

“A lot of the tests that they did right now, we feel optimistic,” Roberts said Wednesday night. “And I think that our hope is that it’s a sprain. So obviously, for the next few days, I’m sure he’ll probably be down, but the MRI (Thursday) will show more.”
Nevertheless, Muncy will now miss time due to the unfortunate injury. In the interim, Ruiz will get his first shot at the MLB level with the Dodgers.
The speedy outfielder who stole 67 bases with the Athletics in 2023 had slashed .292/.394/.458 with eight home runs, 37 RBIs, 38 stolen bases and an OPS of .852 with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
