The Duke Blue Devils saw their season come to an end due to a tough collapse in the final eight minutes of their Final Four matchup against the Houston Cougars. With that collapse, it’s likely that Cooper Flagg’s career with Duke came to an end.
Flagg is widely expected to enter the 2025 NBA draft and become the No. 1 overall pick for whoever wins the draft lottery.
If his career with the Blue Devils is over, Flagg completely lived up to the hype. He averaged 19.2 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals. He also shot 48.1% from the floor and 38.5% from 3-point range.
At this point in time, there has been no official word from Flagg. He did speak out about playing in the NBA and what a blessing it would be for any team to draft him.
“It would be a blessing for me to get drafted [by any] team in the NBA,” he said. “That’s a dream of mine, to play in the NBA. I would feel completely blessed and honored to play for any team.”
That being said, a former Duke legend has spoken out with a strong message about Flagg’s future.

Jay Williams opened up with his thoughts on the situation during an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show.” He does not see a chance of Flagg returning to the Blue Devils for another year.
“I just can’t see Cooper Flagg staying at Duke,” Williams said. “Think about how many max contracts he can get and I imagine he would be trying to start that process as soon as possible.”
His take may not make a lot of Duke fans happy, but passing up on being the No. 1 pick would be a difficult decision to make.
