EE, BT UK network still down for some following outage

Some EE and BT customers are still reporting issues with the company’s network, a day after an outage impacted thousands across the UK.

BT stated that the network outage was resolved yesterday evening.

“Following a technical fault impacting voice services on our network earlier today, we have now resolved the problem and the service is running as normal. We sincerely apologise and recognize the inconvenience this may have caused,” said EE in a statement yesterday.

However, Downdetector still notes hundreds of customers are struggling to connect to the network today (July 25).

Some users have reported that 4G and 5G services have stopped working, preventing people from accessing the Internet and also making and receiving calls.

The issue peaked at around 2:15pm yesterday (July 24), with around 2,600 reporting issues with EE’s network.

Downdetector also noted reports of issues on Vodafone and Three’s respective networks, but both have said they are working as normal.

The outage yesterday for EE also reportedly impacted 999 services. As reported by the BBC, the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services stated that there was “a fault with the mobile phone network, including 999 calls.”

DCD has contacted EE for further information about the outage.

EE previously suffered an outage in September 2023, which affected calls and texts to rival Vodafone.
