(WCIV) — The Summerville community, baseball fans, and parents alike are grappling with the tragic and sudden death of Miller Gardner, the 14-year-old son of former Yankees All-Star Brett Gardner. The young athlete, known for his prowess in football and baseball at Pinewood Prep, passed away in Costa Rica.
The cause of death remains unknown, and official details are pending.
Buster Olney, a prominent MLB reporter for ESPN, shared insights into the impact of the tragedy on the baseball community. “People around baseball are so heartbroken for Brett and his family,” Olney said. “In his time playing for the Yankees, he was one of the most respected players in the sport.
