First Alert: Big changes head our way

  • Heat and humidity continue early this week
  • Daily isolated PM storm chance
  • Cold front brings much cooler temps late-week

We’ll see some sunny breaks today as more clouds develop this afternoon. Our highs will be slightly “cooler” for a couple of hometowns, but still humid across the region.

Highs look to stay generally steady in the low to mid 90s through Wednesday with a transitional day Thursday.

And don’t forget to protect the furrier members of your family! Limit walks to the early morning or later in the evening when concrete and asphalt aren’t as hot. If a daytime walk is a must, avoid pavement, or invest in a pair of dog shoes! They’re heat-safe and funny to watch them try to walk in! 🙂

Storms Accompanying The Heat

Along with the increased moisture will come more instability, which will lead to somewhat of a storm chance during the first half of this week. They’ll continue to take shape in a typical summer-like fashion, being during the afternoon/evening and fairly scattered in coverage.

There’s marginal potential to see an isolated severe thunderstorm during this timeframe. The biggest risks are heavy downpours, which could result in localized flooding, gusty winds, and a pocket or two of hail.

Relief in sight

After what will be a hot start to the week, there will be a significant cooldown in the 6-10 day timeframe going into the weekend, thanks to a cold front moving through Thursday into Friday.
