FIRST ALERT: Showers and thunderstorms possible Wednesday in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Today is a first alert weather day with scattered showers and thunderstorms moving across the Las Vegas Valley early this morning. Expect lightning, isolated gusty winds, and moderate downpours continuing through 8 AM.

A brief lull in activity is expected before another round of storms develops this afternoon.

Conditions turn mainly dry by Thursday evening, with a calm and warm 4th of July on tap.

The weekend brings plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures.

Tuesday’s storms brought heavy winds and dust into the valley. Multiple power poles came tumbling down as a result. As of this morning, more than 3,000 customers are without power. Crews are working to restore power in several areas, along with installing or repairing poles that have toppled over.
