Whether you like Florida to cut down the nets or Houston to pull another slight upset on Monday, there are a ton of ways to tackle Monday’s must-see NCAA National Title Game between the Gators and Cougars.
In most states, major sportsbooks like FanDuel offer a wide variety of player props, which can be combined to form enticing same-game parlays (SGP) for big payouts.
For tonight’s game, we’ve come up with two three-leg parlays. One features a trio of Florida Gators, while the other will be more tempting to UH backers.
Our Florida Gators SGP features Alijah Martin, Thomas Haugh and Walter Clayton Jr.
The Cougars-friendly SGP we’ve built revolves around J’Wan Roberts, Milos Uzan and LJ Cryer.
Best Florida vs. Houston Same-Game Parlays
Best Florida Gators National Title Game SGP (+230)
Leg 1: Alijah Martin 10+ points (-290); Leg 2: Walter Clayton Jr. 4+ assists (-158); Leg 3: Thomas Haugh 6+ rebounds (-175)
This SGP’s current price of +230 (as of Monday morning) means a $100 bet would yield a $230 payout if everything goes according to plan.
Leg 1: Alijah Martin 10+ points (-290)
Our Gators SGP starts with Alijah Martin, who should get a ton of looks as Houston prioritizes containing the red-hot Walter Clayton Jr.
Martin (14.6 points per game) has been a solid second option for his team all year, and he has scored at least 10 points in 11 straight games, with 14 or more in four of Florida’s NCAAT games to date. Martin has the athleticisim and 3-point touch to reach double-figures scoring for the 12th game in a row, even against an outstanding defensive opponent like Houston.
Off-ball guards have been some of the only players that have had offensive success against Houston in this tournament (Gonzaga’s Khalif Battle scored 17 points on 3-for-7 3-point shooting, Purdue’s Fletcher Loyer had 16 points on 2-for-7 from outside and Duke’s Kon Knueppel finished with 15 points on 3-for-5 from 3-point land).
Leg 2: Walter Clayton Jr. 4+ assists (-158)
Obviously, that trend bodes well for Martin, and it also explains why we like Clayton Jr.’s assists number. He has hit tough shot after tough shot in this tournament, but he’s likely going to have to beat Houston as a passer, which is why we’re targeting his assists number.
While Florida has gotten here by leaning on Clayton to carry the scoring load, the fact that Gonzaga’s Ryan Nembhard (11 assists) and Purdue’s Braden Smith (15 assists) both diced Houston up as passers makes 4 or more seem like a manageable number for Clayton, whose season average is 4.1 apg.
Leg 3: Thomas Haugh 6+ rebounds (-175)
Last but not least, we also are banking on Thomas Haugh, who has been a rebounding machine for the Gators. He’ll have to fight for every board tonight, but he should play a big role off the bench and reach this number without too much difficulty.
Best Houston Cougars National Title Game SGP (+226)
Leg 1: J’Wan Roberts 6+ rebounds (-220); Leg 2: Milos Uzan 10+ points (-225); Leg 3: LJ Cryer 15+ points (-190)
Below, we’ll make the case for each of these legs.
The +226 odds mean that a $100 bet would yield a $226 payout if Roberts, Uzan and Cryer all come through.
Leg 1: J’Wan Roberts 6+ rebounds (-220)
Foul trouble limited Roberts to just two boards in 16 minutes in his team’s Elite Eight beatdown of Tennessee, but the 6-foot-8 senior has otherwise been a monster throughout this tournament.
Roberts grabbed eight boards vs. Gonzaga in the round of 32, 12 vs. Purdue in the Sweet 16 and 12 more vs. Duke in the Final Four. We’re not exactly going out on a limb including him to get at least six rebounds in this SGP, especially not after he finished with double-digit boards vs. the Blue Devils while helping Houston prevent 7-foot-2 center Khaman Maluach from grabbing a single rebound.
Leg 2: Milos Uzan 10+ points (-225)
Uzan has been a streaky scorer all year for Houston, and he’s coming off forgettable showings against both Tennessee and Duke. In fact, Uzan has scored 7 points or fewer in three of the Cougars’ last four games, though he did pour in 22 of his team’s 62 points in the Sweet 16 win over Purdue.
After LJ Cryer went off vs. the Blue Devils for 26 points on 8-for-14 FG shooting, expect Florida to do everything it can to make someone else for Houston step up. Uzan is more than capable of doing just that. As a 44 percent 3-point shooter who shot 1-for-6 from outside over the last two games, he’s due for a bounceback night.
It’s also worth noting that while Uzan’s been inconsistent in this tournament, he scored at least 10 points in seven of eight games before the Big Dance, with 14 or more in all three Big 12 Tournament contests (including 25 in the championship game vs. Arizona).
Leg 3: LJ Cryer 15+ points (-190)
Cryer has been one of the most underappreciated players in this tournament, as Cooper Flagg, Walter Clayton Jr. and Kelvin Sampson dominated the headlines over the last couple weeks.
But as a veteran who was a reserve on the Baylor team that won it all in 2021, Cryer is a safe bet to carry the load for Houston tonight following an oustanding performance vs. Duke on Saturday.
Cryer is a dangerous 3-point shooter who torched the Blue Devils for 26 points on just 14 FG attempts.
We expect him to score 15 points or more tonight for the fifth time in this tournament thanks to not only his ability to knock down 3-pointers, but his heavy involvement in everything UH does offensively (as evidenced by his high usage rate of 24 percent).
