Watch: Sydney Sweeney Bonds With Glen Powell’s Sister Amid Relationship Speculation
Glen Powell’s mom doesn’t want fans to get it twisted.
Shortly after Sydney Sweeney broke off her engagement from ex Jonathan Davino and attended the wedding of Glen’s sister, Leslie Powell, on March 29, Glen’s mom, Cyndy Powell addressed whether a romance was brewing between the former Anyone But You costars.
“They’re definitely not together,” Cyndy told the Daily Mail March 31, adding that Sydney had attended Leslie’s Texas nuptials “with her friend.”
Indeed, Cyndy went on to call the romantic rumors between Glen and Sydney “silly,” noting that the Euphoria actress is simply “really close friends” with Glen and his family.
“We love Sydney,” Cyndy added. “We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend. We were all together so much and we haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.”
Cyndy’s comments come after the actors first sparked discourse for their chemistry in Anyone But You back in 2023. And although the Immaculate star only recently broke off her engagement from her former fiancé, she previously addressed brewing romance rumors between she and Glen in March 2024.
“The craziest rumor is that I was having an affair with my costar Glen Powell,” Sydney said while hosting Saturday Night Live last year. “That’s obviously not true. Me and my fiancé produced the movie together, and he was there the entire shoot.”
Glen, meanwhile, noted that the pair intentionally leaned into their chemistry to promote Anyone But You, which hit theaters in December 2023.
“The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry,” Glen explained to the New York Times in 2024. “Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry.”
The 36-year-old even noted that playing up their romance had been Sydney’s idea, adding that she was “very smart.” (Anyone But You grossed over $200 million in the box office with just a $25 million budget, per Deadline.)
But while Sydney’s next romantic chapter is unwritten, her love story with Jonathan came to an end after seven years, with multiple outlets reporting March 31 that the couple had officially called off their engagement.
Still, the 27-year-old previously spoke highly of her relationship with Jonathan, especially when it came to his support of her work.
As she told Entertainment Tonight in 2023, “It’s amazing having someone who cheers you on and someone who fully just supports what you do.”

When asked about what she looks for in a partner, Sydney explained: “I look for a best friend. I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of and we laugh every single day.”
The White Lotus actress and her fiance continued their adventures with a fashionable trip to the Cannes Film Festival in 2023.

Just before their breakup was confirmed, Sydney attended a wedding alongside Glen Powell—who she first sparked romance rumors with amid press for Anyone But You in 2023—in Texas. However, Glen’s mother Cyndy Powell, shut down any romance brewing, telling the Daily Mail in 2025 that Sydney is simply a “friend” of the Powell family.
