Hansi Flick is one happy man. The German has taken his second trophy as Barça coach after leading the team to victory over Real Madrid at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville. With a broad grin on his face in the press room after the game he gave his take on proceedings: “It was incredible. We are all so proud of this team and it’s a great victory for us.”
A message for the fans
As you would expect, there were words of gratitude for the players, staff and all the fans who helped Barça to the Copa del Rey title.
In particular the Barça coach had a message for the 26,000 fans who made the trip to Seville to support the team in the final. “The fans were spectacular. There was a great atmosphere all day, you just had to look at people’s faces. There was a brilliant atmosphere in the stadium,” said Flick.
Kounde, the hero
Flick highlighted the performances of Pau Cubarsí, man of the match Ferran Torres, and Jules Kounde, the match winner with his goal in the 116th minute of the contest. “Kounde stopped two Real Madrid chances in extra time then he scored the winning goal, I am really happy for him,” concluded the Copa del Rey winning coach.
