Here Are The Biggest Red Carpet Trends From The 2025 Oscars

Last night was the 2025 Academy Awards, which means that we, the public, get to consider the style of Hollywood’s elite while sitting on our own couch in sweats (just me?).

So, here are the three big trends I noticed from this year’s Oscars red carpet:

1.TREND #1: Nude and sparkly.

It looks like the naked dress is very much here to stay on the red carpet in 2025. Arguably the best iteration of this was Ariana Grande’s custom Schiaparelli gown, which featured more than 190,000 crystals.

We also had Emma Stone in custom Louis Vuitton, which was covered in scales and paired with a new pixie cut from the actor.

Selena Gomez opted for a Ralph Lauren gown that was made by 12 people and featured “more than 16,000 drops of glass.”

2.TREND #2: METAL

What better way to match the golden statuette with a metallic look yourself? First up, we had Felicity Jones in custom Armani Privé.

Also going for the liquid metallic look was Whoopi Goldberg in Christian Siriano.

Halle Berry also wore Siriano with a dress that included over 7,000 beads.

Demi Moore wore a dazzling Armani Privé gown, which tracks for a woman nominated for playing Elisabeth Sparkle.

For one, Meg Ryan wore a sculptural Ashi Studio look.

Cynthia Erivo’s Louis Vuitton dress acted as a nod to both Oz and the first Black person to win an Oscar, Hattie McDaniel.

Margaret Qualley’s Chanel number was paired with a back necklace, a red carpet trend that’s been bubbling up lately that was also spotted on Michelle Yeoh.

Isabella Rossellini wore a blue velvet Dolce & Gabbana dress as a tribute to David Lynch, along with a pair of her mother’s earrings.

Finally, Scarlett Johansson wore a vintage Mugler Couture gown from the bygone 1999/2000 collection.
