More from Thomas Tuchel on the performances of Reece James and Marcus Rashford in his post-match press conference…
“Reece can be a hybrid midfielder, and help to create an overload in midfield,” Tuchel said. “He’s very confident, when it’s an open game. I’m not sure it would suit him perfectly in a game with lots of transitions. There can be no doubt about Reece’s quality at the highest level.
“Marcus again showed today the hunger and desire to go again and again and again. He was more aggressive in his movements, the most important thing was that he showed the confidence in his abilities.
”We maybe lacked a bit of support for him, with Jude Bellingham playing very centrally. Lewis-Skelly should have supported from the second line but the information came a bit late in the half.”
And asked if he was frustrated at any points, he concluded: “No, not at all. It’s normal you see an opportunity but the players don’t. We need this, to learn from each other.
”I need to understand how they behave under stress, what they do out of possession and in possession. (Overall) I’m very happy with the effort, attitude, and results.”
