Argentina has nine wins, one draw, and three losses so far in qualifying play. Its last qualifying match was on March 21 against Uruguay, with Argentina winning 1-0 after a 68th-minute goal from Lyon midfielder Thiago Almada.
Brazil is coming off a 2-1 win over Colombia. Raphinha scored a sixth-minute penalty kick to put the team on the board, and then Vinicius Junior gave Brazil the win in stoppage time.
The first meeting of these sides during qualifying play was back in November 2023, with Argentina taking the 1-0 victory after a Nicolás Otamendi goal.
After this game, these teams are next in action in qualifying play in June, with Argentina playing Chile and Brazil playing Ecuador.
