Instant grade for Patriots signing Harold Landry in NFL free agency

The New England Patriots have made their first move of NFL free agency, and it involves a player who had already hit the open market. Harold Landry, who was recently released by the Tennessee Titans, is coming to Foxboro on a three-year, $43.5 million contract.

The move reunites Landry with his former head coach, Mike Vrabel. Here’s what it means for New England.

Instant grade: Patriots sign Harold Landry to 3-year, $43.5 million deal

Bernd Buchmasser: The Patriots needed to address their defensive edge this offseason, and Landry gives them a player that the coaching staff is familiar and obviously comfortable with. However, the deal can be considered an overpay at $14.5 million a year even though the team does have plenty of money to spend. | Grade: C+

Brian Hines: Landry may not be what he once was as a pass rusher, but he still has been productive in the sack department while maintaining a strong level of play against the run. He’s a welcomed veteran addition to a group that needed depth this offseason. | Grade: B

With Landry in the fold and tight end Austin Hooper re-signed, the Patriots now have 62 players under contract for 2025.

What do you think about the signing, though? Do you like it? Do you not? Please head to the comment section to discuss.
