Sydney Sweeney fans have questions about her relationship with ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino.
Since they were first linked in 2018, the former couple have largely stayed quiet about their romance. Even after they got engaged in 2022, they still kept a low profile online and in interviews.
While Sweeney and her Anyone but You costar Glen Powell played up their chemistry for the romantic comedy’s press tour, the actress maintained that her relationship with Davino was strong. During her Saturday Night Live monologue the following year, the actress joked about her working relationship with Powell and called her fiancé the “man of her dreams.”
In March 2025, however, fans began speculating that the pair had broken up after the Euphoria star removed a photo of Davino from her Instagram feed. She later uploaded photos of herself with her engagement ring noticeably absent.
Sweeney has not commented publicly on the rumors but a source confirmed to PEOPLE on March 31 that the couple were no longer together.
Here’s everything to know about what’s going on between Sydney Sweeney and her ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino — and why an outing with Glen Powell left fans with even more questions.

Rumors that Sweeney was dating Davino began in the fall of 2018 after the Chicago businessman accompanied the Immaculate actress to a few Hollywood events. A year later, they went public with their romance, sitting together courtside for a New York Knicks basketball game. PEOPLE confirmed the couple got engaged in March 2022.
Though Sweeney has coyly dodged questions about Davino over the years, she did open up about her relationship with Glamour UK and revealed that he was her producing partner on Anyone but You.
“It’s really great to work with someone who knows you so well, who fully supports your ideas, your vision and your voice,” the actress told the outlet in December 2023. “I mean, who doesn’t want to be with their best friend all the time?”

In March 2025, Sweeney deleted a picture of her kissing Davino from her Instagram feed.
The image, which showed him bending over to kiss the actress while they were surrounded by friends, was posted in January 2025 as part of a carousel she shared with the caption, “The last few days of 2024 will forever be some of my favorite.”
Sweeney’s reps did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment at the time.

Days later, the Madame Web star posted a photo and video of her posing in a string bikini while underwater in a pool. She also shared a series of images that showed her rocking a vintage Dior dress on the beach — while not wearing her engagement ring.
In addition to those solo shots, Sweeney also posted photos from a girls’ trip to Tanzania, that she went on with friends. For a post featuring her standing in front of a still-inflating hot air balloon, she wrote the caption, “only up from here.”

On March 30, Deuxmoi obtained photos of Sweeney reuniting with Powell at a Dallas restaurant. They were both in town to attend the wedding of the Hit Man actor’s sister, Leslie.
The day prior, the bride, who also worked on Anyone but You, shared a photo from the wedding on her Instagram Stories that showed her with Sweeney.
Shortly after, Powell’s mom, Cyndy, told the Daily Mail that her son and Sweeney are “definitely not together.”
After confirming that “[there is] nothing going on behind closed doors” she added, “We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend.”

Around the same time of her trip to Tanzania, reports emerged that Sweeney had been residing at a hotel by herself. One inside source also told PEOPLE that “things have been rocky for a long time” between the couple, and another later revealed that the actress was focusing on her career amid the end of her engagement.
“Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd,” the source told PEOPLE. “What did make her overwhelmed though was her relationship and her wedding. She didn’t feel right about it.”
The source continued, “She’s not ready to settle down. They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”
The last time Sweeney talked about her relationship, she corrected the preconceived notion that Davino, who is a decade older than her, pays for everything. During an October 2024 interview with Glamour, Sweeney said, “I’ve accomplished and bought everything myself, and I provide for myself and my family.”
