Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles shock Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX | DAZN News US

When Kendrick Lamar performed “tv off,” which repeats the line “Turn the TV off,” we all could have listened at halftime.

That’s because instead of the Kansas City Chiefs becoming the first team in NFL history to produce a Super Bowl three-peat, they were on the receiving end of a humiliating Super Bowl beatdown. The Philadelphia Eagles stomped all over the back-to-back defending champions, 40-22, in Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday night .

Jalen Hurts was named the Super Bowl LIX MVP after completing 17-of-22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 72 yards and another TD on the ground.

The Philadelphia Eagles hit their “Fly Eagles Fly!” stride early with a commanding 24-0 halftime lead and never looked back.

That first half told the story of two quarterbacks heading in different directions as Hurts had one touchdown passing and another rushing already, while Mahomes tossed two interceptions.

And it would only get worse for Mahomes. Instead of extending plays on his feet like Chiefs’ fans are accustomed to, Mahomes was routinely pressured under a collapsing pocket as he was sacked six times, including a strip-sack for a fumble, with one of his two interceptions being a pick-six in a forgettable performance. Two of his three touchdown passes came with under three minutes left and way too late for a rally.

With the victory, Hurts and the Eagles avenge their loss to Mahomes and the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII in February 2023.

Rookie wideout Xavier Worthy had two touchdown receptions in the Chiefs’ loss.
