Jayden Daniels reacts to Laremy Tunsil’s trade to Commanders

When Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels receives some news he likes, he reacts on Instagram. In recent days, Daniels has been thrilled that the Commanders have retained linebacker Bobby Wagner and tight end Zach Ertz, both of whom he is close with. He reached out to both on Instagram, relaying his excitement.

Daniels received his first shocking offseason news on Monday when the Commanders traded draft picks to the Houston Texans for five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Daniels now had his left tackle and blindside protector.

Daniels heard the news and reached out to Tunsil on Instagram.

Tunsil is one of the NFL’s best left tackles. He’s especially outstanding in pass protection, which is music to Daniels’ ears. While Washington’s offensive line overachieved and played well for most of last season, the group struggled later in the season. Rookie left tackle, Brandon Coleman, proved to be quite the find, but there were questions about whether his future was at left tackle, right tackle, or guard.

The Commanders reported interest in Ravens’ left tackle Ronnie Stanley before free agency indicated they didn’t see Coleman at left tackle. Monday’s trade for Tunsil allows Washington to move Coleman elsewhere on the line, improving two positions with one move.

Daniels had every reason to be excited on the first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period. His offensive line just got a lot better.
