The Golden State Warriors got off to a slow start in the Western Conference’s opening NBA Play-In Tournament game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, April 15, falling behind by a score of 11-2. But those struggles didn’t last long.
Jimmy Butler assumed his traditional playoff form and helped bully the Dubs into a double-digit lead in the first quarter. In a game of runs, the scoreboard swayed back and forth, though saw Golden State increase its advantage to 20 points midway through the second quarter via a spectacular four-point play from Stephen Curry.

Curry drilled a 3-point shot in the corner and was fouled and knocked to the ground in the process. Chase Center erupted as the ball sailed through the net, while Curry engaged with the court-side fans in animated fashion.
Butler, feeling the energy he helped build exploding all around him, screamed a five-word message regarding his superstar teammate to the Grizzlies, the Dubs fans and everyone else in the building as well as those watching at home.
“Jimmy after Steph’s four-point play: ‘That’s a bad MF’ 🔥🔥🔥,” TheWarriorsTalk X account captioned a photo of Butler’s reaction.
Butler and Curry each scored 11 points in the second quarter and put up 21 and 15 points, respectively, in the first half. The Warriors entered the locker room up by a score of 67-55.
