John Haliburton tells TMJ4 news a slightly different version of clash with Antetokounmpo

John Haliburton has a different version of the same story.

The father of Tyrese Haliburton, who first approached Giannis Antetokounmpo on the court after Game 5, and then was confronted by Antetokounmpo later, is saying that Antetokounmpo embellished the story.

Antetokounmpo said the senior Haliburton swore at him and he found the entire exchange disrespectful.

“This is what we F—ing do,” recalled Antetokounmpo.

Haliburton did an exclusive story with TMJ4’s Rod Burks on April 30 and gave this account:

“When I turned, it might have seemed like I was looking at him – but I really wasn’t,” said John Haliburton. “I was looking through him.

“That’s how it was in the moment. I know it looked like I was staring him down. But it wasn’t like that. I was in the moment; I was looking right through him.

“And yes, I had the banner in my hand going… and I was yelling: ‘Yay! Yay! Yay!’

“Giannis never said anything to me; I never said anything to Giannis. There was no back and forth.”

Antetokounmpo said at the time he thought the person was just a Pacers fan. When he realized it was Haliburton’s father, he confronted him face to face on the sideline, angrily. This is what John Haliburton told WTMJ4:

“He grabbed my hand; he put his forehead on my forehead. He said, don’t disrespect me. Don’t F—ing disrespect me.

“And I said to him, I am not trying to disrespect you. Which I wasn’t. I’m telling you, I did not do that on purpose. I really did not.

“And then I said to him, I love you and he said back to me, I love you. We patted chests, he gave me a thumbs up and he walked away.”
