Kanye West Reacts After Kim Kardashian Teases Possible North West and Playboi Carti Song Collaboration

Watch: Kanye West Slams Kim Kardashian’s Tease of North Song With Playboi Carti

Kanye West is airing his grievances.

The rapper clapped back after his ex-wife Kim Kardashian shared Playboi Carti’s request for a song with North West, the eldest of Kim and Kanye’s four children who recently appeared on a track he released by Sean “Diddy” Combs.

For her part, Kim reposted Playboi Carti’s Instagram Story that highlighted the lyrics referencing her and her SKIMS brans in his song “FINE S–T.” He had written across the Story, “@kimkardashian TELL ME NIECE NORTH SEND ME A SONG.”

Following the request by the “Miss The Rage” artist, Kanye didn’t hold back when sharing how he really felt.

Writing from what seems to be Playboi Carti’s perspective, Kanye wrote on X, formerly Twitter, Mar. 18, “HEY NORTH YOUR DAD GAVE ME MY BIGGEST SONG AND CO SIGN AND I LEFT HIM OFF OF MY ALBUM BECAUSE OF HIS TWEETS OH BUT NORTH YOU MY NIECE I GOTTA USE YOUR VOCALS.”

Hours later, Kanye added, “I HELD MY TONGUE ABOUT MOT[sic] BEING ON CARTI ALBUM HIM GOING TO MY EX TO ASK MY DAUGHTER TO BE ON A SONG 2 DAYS LATER WAS TOO FAR NOBODY FINNA PLAY WITH ME.”

The Grammy winner’s comments come just days after he dropped a song by disgraced rapper Diddy—who his currently awaiting trial for charges related to sex trafficking—and which features North as well as Diddy’s son Christian “King” Combs and musician Jasmine Williams.

Ahead of the song, “Lonely Roads Still Go To Sunshine,” being released March 15, Kanye alleged Kim tried to prevent it from going live, although he ultimately posted it anyway.

The “Gold Digger” artist—who has been vocal about his support of Diddy since the music mogul’s September arrest—shared an apparent text exchange between the two parents in a since-deleted post to X, in which Kim allegedly wrote that she “sent paper work over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her.”

She also acknowledged trademarking North’s name—as well as their other three kids Saint West, 9, Chicago West, 7, and Psalm West, 5—at birth to prevent others from cashing in on their names.

“I asked u at the time if I can trademark her name,” another text allegedly from the SKIMS founder reads. “You said yes. When she’s 18 it goes to her. So stop.”

However, Kanye fought back at the trademark claim, allegedly texting his ex, “Amend it or I’m going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout. You’re going to have to kill me.”

According to TMZ, citing multiple sources familiar with the situation, Kim apparently sent cease and desist letters to Kanye over the song and even had an emergency hearing with a mediator and judge. While Kanye reportedly did not join the meeting, he allegedly promised to drop the song.

Following the song’s release, Kanye shared his desire to be more involved in his children’s lives.

“I don’t want to just ‘see’ my kids,” Kanye, whose divorce from his ex was finalized in 2022 after eight years of marriage, wrote on X. “I need to raise them.”
