Mother’s Day is still over a month away here in the United States of America, but across the pond in the U.K., the celebrations have already begun. In the U.K., Mother’s Day was on Sunday, March 30 this year and to mark the occasion, Kate Middleton took to social media to share a new video.
Set to calming spa-like music, the video cycled through different aspects of nature, including shots of blooming flowers, waves crashing, rain pouring in the countryside and more.
“Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary,” Middleton began in the caption. “This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life.” She signed off with her signature “C.”
Fans admired the post leaving a slew of pink and red heart emojis and comments like, “What a Beautiful gift is Mother Nature…thank you for sharing,” yet I couldn’t help but notice that this post was very different from her Mother’s Day posts in the past, marking a break in royal tradition.
Middleton typically marks the occasion with a sweet family portrait featuring herself and the three children she shares with husband Prince William: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
That wasn’t the only noticeable change. While Princess Catherine’s face isn’t shown in the video, her hands are, and eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed that she wasn’t wearing that iconic gorgeous sapphire engagement ring—yes, the one previously owned by Princess Diana.
Of course, that isn’t much cause for pause. Middleton has often been spotted without the noteworthy piece. She swapped out the stunning piece of jewelry for a new infinity band in September and October of 2024.
At the end of the day, whether there’s a new family photo or not, new ring or not, the message remains the same: Happy Mother’s Day!
