‘Lamine showed us the way’ – Hansi Flick hails Yamal after Barcelona’s Champions League draw with Inter

Hansi Flick hailed Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal after his wonderful performance in the 3-3 draw with Inter in the Champions League.

Barcelona looked dead and buried after going 2-0 down early on, but Yamal pulled one back in sensational style and then hit the woodwork.

His brilliance seemed to inspire Barca as the Catalans went on to draw 3-3 in a thrilling game.

Here’s what Flick made of it all:

“We didn’t start well. We conceded two goals but then came back. We had ups and downs in the second half. It was spectacular for the fans. It’s the first of two matches. We have to win in Milan. It’s a final before the final,” he told the media.

“We’re talking about a Champions League semi-final. They’re great teams. They have experience. They showed it today. They had an advantage on set pieces. Four or five very tall players, and they took advantage of that.

“Lamine showed us the way. That 1-2 finish was very important. I’m happy with the team. We’ve done a good job and we have to keep fighting.”

Flick was also asked about Kounde after losing the defender to injury in the first half but said only: “We have to wait until tomorrow to find out what he has.”
