Laura Loomer, the MAGA influencer behind the firing of the NSA director

Wednesday, April 2 was out of the ordinary. The world held its breath awaiting Donald Trump’s announcement of his new tariff policy. Shortly before, the American president received an unusual guest in the Oval Office: Laura Loomer. This 31-year-old influencer and would-be investigator is a very familiar figure in the MAGA (Make America Great Again) world. She came with a list of a dozen names, those of senior administration officials she deemed disloyal to the president. Since then, several members of the National Security Council, around Mike Waltz, have been dismissed. Then, on April 4, it was announced that the director of the National Security Agency (NSA), General Timothy Haugh, and Deputy Director Wendy Noble, had also been removed.

Loomer boasted about her intervention on X, the social media network. “All of the Democrat and Deep State moles are getting rooted out,” she wrote. “I’m stopping these traitors before they can STRIKE, and they are livid.” And what to make of General Haugh, who had a spotless record, and was also chief of cyber command? He had the misfortune of having been appointed by the former chief of the General Staff under then-president Joe Biden, General Mark Milley, who had described Donald Trump as a “fascist at heart.”
