March Madness is in full swing and the second weekend of the women’s tournament began on Friday with Sweet 16 action in Birmingham and Spokane.
To tip things off, we had a Tobacco Road Rivalry matchup, the first of its kind in the NCAA tournament. No. 2 Duke came out on top in a defensive battle, winning 47-38 over No. 3 North Carolina.

Later, No. 1 South Carolina staved off No. 4 Maryland in a nail-biter and No. 3 LSU overcame No. 2 NC State for a win in the Spokane 1 region. Then, in the nightcap, No. 1 UCLA easily dispatched No. 5 Ole Miss to advance to the Elite Eight.
