While McDonald’s is constantly making advancements and upgrades to its burgers, crispy chicken, and desserts, there’s one aspect of its menu that it rarely touches: the breakfast selection. Is that because the McMuffins, hot cakes, and McGriddles are too perfect already? Maybe. But, it’s rare to see anything new hit that pre-10:30 a.m. menu.
The most recent news coming out of Mickey D’s breakfast world was the addition of bagel sandwiches to its morning menu. However, those Bacon, Egg & Cheese and Steak, Egg & Cheese bagels had previously been offered as regional options, so maybe they weren’t as new as you thought.
But, now, McDonald’s is adding three new offerings to its early-bird menu that you’ve certainly never seen before. In celebration of the McMuffin’s 50th anniversary, McDonald’s is introducing three new versions of the sandwich.

On July 8, McDonald’s is adding three new Spicy McMuffins to its menu. The chain will introduce a Spicy Egg McMuffin, Spicy Sausage McMuffin, and Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg.
The new offering simply adds McDonald’s Spicy Pepper Sauce to its flagship breakfast sandwiches for an extra zip of heat and flavor. The Spicy Pepper Sauce is the same one Mickey D’s uses on its Spicy McCrispy sandwich—and what it plans to add to the Spicy Snack Wrap when it returns on July 10.
McDonald’s has previously brought the heat to its breakfast menu with jalapeño slices, but these are the first spicy breakfast sandwiches using Mickey D’s proprietary hot sauce blend.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end, though, because McDonald’s doesn’t plan to keep these Spicy McMuffins around forever. The new sandwiches will only be on the menu for a limited time—and, because the social media pleas haven’t been answered just yet and McDonald’s breakfast is not served all day long, their availability will truly be limited.
So, be sure to head in before Ronald McDonald switches over the fryer from hash browns to french fries and grab yourself a hot and spicy breakfast sammie.
